Nowadays, these dogs are renowned as immaculate guardians, and they can well deter potential enemies with their formidable appearance. The Presa Canario has a very muscular body, deep and broad chest and massive head with powerful mandibles. These dogs are not recommended for inexperienced owners.

The Canary dog originated in the Canary Islands. The breed was produced by crossing the Bardino Majero with the English Mastiff and Bulldog. This new breed became popular as a fighter dog, and he competed in dog-fighting until its abolition.
